JAMES BIRKETT Product Design BA - First Class Degree With Honours

Both third year projects were based around a chosen subject, I chose to do toys as it would give me a wide range of products to work with. This report was called futures, with the product being proposed for manufacture between 30 and 100 years from now.

From the research conducted right at the beginning of the project I had decided that it would best to design a toy built for the outdoors and outdoor travel. This is because I believe that many children and people in the future are more likely to be playing with AR and VR rather than physical toys. The speculation of a new outdoor product went through many different adaptations going through bikes and scooters before settling on the skateboard sector.The skateboard sector was chosen due to the promotion hover board have currently in the news proving that a hover board is a popular product that people are aiming to have availible in the future.

Due to this projects conceptual nature many different shape and style options were available and are all shown in the main report. Although this project is conceptual an idea around how the product may actually work when more efficient technology is availible, Because of this new technology future forecasting has been conducted and allowed for an estimate that the designed product would be available in the year 2070.
